America is the land of opportunity. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always seem that way for returning veterans and their families.
BlueStar Family Homes (BFH) is part of a nonprofit network of experienced developers of affordable communities. We are dedicated to providing veterans and their families, especially single mothers and their children, with secure communities and the support services they deserve and need to thrive. Our programs are designed to help veteran families from becoming homeless.
Our proposed solution is to begin development in the North Bay counties of California with a $250 million budget to provide 1,000 rental homes in several different communities.
Our focus in this veterans’ initiative is essentially on better outcomes for children through supportive, enriched, and secure family living.
BFH is uniquely positioned to develop family-friendly, rental communities to fill the void for precariously-housed veteran families, as well as for the general public. In each community, BFH will create a partnership with key service providers to support the veterans and their families with their issues.
Helping families flourish is the key to the communities we design.
We need your help!
About Our Founders
Clark Blasdell (a well-established real estate developer) and Pamela Asselmeier (who has expertise in law and in real estate) are champions of affordable housing. Based on their passion for helping the underserved with a special interest in veterans, Clark and Pamela created BlueStar Family Homes in September 2015.
With nearly 40 years of experience in developing affordable homes for families with Northbay Family Homes (NFH), Suburban Alternatives Land Trust (SALT), and the Hamilton Area Redevelopment Plan, NFH has facilitated the delivery of over 4,000 homes, most of which were affordable, with a total investment of $154,000,000.
Building on their successes and experience since 1978, Clark and Pamela offer the perfect combination of proven expertise, leadership, and heart to secure this funding and deliver this housing program for lower income veterans.
Clark’s philosophy is “Making the impossible affordable,” while Pamela says, “Our veterans served our country and now we need to take care of them.” They believe they address the injustice in our community with affordable housing for all backgrounds and incomes.
What You Can Do To Help
These veteran families seeking affordable homes are often overlooked in our community. They desperately need your help to find affordable homes, so they can thrive and live the lives they justly deserve.
Without your action today, there will be even more homeless veterans and their children tomorrow.
